Dance Code

Dance Code

MARCH 2017

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Find a song that your child loves to dance to.
  2. Ask them to teach you a dance.
  3. Have them identify the steps to the dance verbally.
  4. Next, take a photo of each step of the dance on your smart phone.
  5. Have fun with it! Make a stop animation movie (there are several free apps) using the photos of each step or make a paper tutorial for friends and family to try out their new dance.

Anato-Me Wall Art

Anato-Me Wall Art

February 2017

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Trace your child on a large poster board or drawing paper roll. If you don't have a paper roll or poster board - what else can you use? What about large post-its?
  2. Next, bring out the crayons and markers! Ask your child: Where are your eyes? Your bones? Color them in!
  3. Now ask questions related to body systems. For example, when you eat, where does your food go? Are your muscles attached to your bones? Try to address the misconceptions they have.
  4. Now get really creative! What can you add? Can you use play dough to make a heart or stomach? How about using yarn to show where the veins are?
  5. The challenge: How can you hang your new wall art? Tape? String? Show us your ideas!
